There are many voices in the world.
The voice of self making YOU the big deal.
The voice of fear keeping you from your taking the God kind of RISKS.
The voice of the world which lies and entices you to do all the wrong things for WHAT FEELS LIKE all the right reasons.
The one voice that matters is the STILL SMALL VOICE-heard in quiet.
It’s a small voice in that it will rarely scream out for your attention, but it’s a loud voice no less!
It’s heard in the quiet place and through a soul that knows it needs quieted.
Listen – You have to silence the other voices in order to hear this God’s voice
Talk to God – tell him your struggles, fears, and hopes
Listen again – He responds to troubled hearts, needs, requests, and desires.
Hearing comes by knowing God and hearing the word of God!
I would love to hear your thoughts and comments

Tom,
Great post. Thanks for sharing!
We live in an age where we’re swamped with ‘white noise’. computers, email, social media, TV, etc, etc, etc. It chokes every waking moment and competes with solitude. Unfortunately, we’re hardwired to crave this type of stimulus. It makes us feel wanted when our email is constantly dinging, the RTs are flying and the phone is ringing off the hook. The effect, though, is Spiritual Deficit Disorder.
Solitude is what is required to hear the Father. Solitude and stillness before the Father. it is a choice. Better yet, it’s a habit like any other. We must ‘choose’ to develop the habit of stillness, choose to shut out all the competing noise, still our hearts and minds and simply listen.
As always, well done

This post appealed to me because I think of “voice” in music. Finding that “still quiet voice” inside, the voice of God is enormously difficult thee days but more necessary than ever. Running, swimming are my ways… have’t really gotten into the habit of meditation, yet.
Thanks for this reminder.

This is an awesome reminder. We live in such a busy day and age that we tend to forget that it is necessary to sloooow down.
Thanks for the reminder.
